Letter published in the Financial Times. Basically, one day in June, I saw two articles on the same page about trade between the UK and China in two different sectors – without once mentioning the US, or tariffs, or President Trump.

And I wondered if this is a little sign of what’s to come, as nations of the world that are not the USA (c. 7.7 billion people) maybe start to focus more on trade with each other, than with the US.

There’s something about the EU cleverly (in my view) wrapping up a deal and moving on with life that fits with this idea.
