Faisal Sheikh, managing director at Monmouth Capital, said he was being “extremely careful about the adoption of AI” owing to “hallucinations”, which he called “lies in human parlance”.

He acknowledged that AI was “excellent” for “purely administrative, low-stakes tasks”.

Sheikh said: “For work that requires sensitivity, accuracy and completeness, which characterises much of what we do as financial advisers, it is unreliable and could even be dangerous.”

He concluded that the “rush” to adopt AI is being driven by “the carrot of cost savings” and “a smattering of needing to keep up with the times”.
